Spassherz Poppenhausen

Poppenhausen am Wasserkuppe

Welcome to Spassherz Poppenhausen

A vision for turning vacant buildings in the heart of the Rhön village into living spaces — a community hub at the historic "Zum Adler" house and a repurposed warehouse quarter off Tolzweg.

"When empty rooms become open doors, a village remembers how to gather."

— Spassherz Poppenhausen community vision

The community house

Zum Adler — your village community hub

The three-storey corner building at Burgstraße and Georgstraße — once Gasthof "Zum Adler" — sits at the crossroads of village life. Repurposed floor by floor, it becomes a multi-use hub where heritage café culture, local enterprise, co-working, and childcare share one address.

Floor plans

Four floors, four purposes

Ground floor plan

Heritage café & beer garden

Open forecourt with seating, a warm café interior, and space for informal gatherings — the ground floor welcomes everyone who passes through Georgstraße.

First floor plan

Business studios & podcast room

Small enterprises, recording booths, and workshop rooms for local makers who need affordable space in the village centre.

Second floor plan

Co-working & meeting rooms

Hot desks, quiet zones, and bookable meeting rooms for remote workers, associations, and project teams.

Third floor plan

Childcare & youth programmes

Day-care rooms, after-school clubs, and flexible youth space — keeping young families rooted in Poppenhausen.

Warehouse quarter

Markets, cinema, craft & seasonal village life

The long halls off Tolzweg — once industrial storage — are reimagined as flexible spaces for popup markets, film nights, repair cafés, concerts, and a craft academy where older generations pass skills to the next. Events rotate through the seasons; the buildings adapt with them.

Popup market

Regional producers, seasonal stalls, and a harvest festival market that fills the halls with colour and conversation.

Seasonal

Village cinema

Film nights, documentary screenings, and open-air projections in the courtyard — culture without driving to the city.

Weekly / monthly

Repair café

Bring broken bikes, appliances, and textiles — volunteers and craftspeople help fix rather than discard.

Monthly

Board games & choir

Evening game clubs and a community choir that rehearses in the warm hall — low-threshold ways to belong.

Weekly

Community dinner & family brunch

Shared tables, local ingredients, and long Sunday brunches that turn neighbours into friends.

Monthly

Live music & concerts

From acoustic evenings to full concert nights — the warehouse acoustics and open floor make it a natural stage.

Seasonal

Craft academy

Older generations teaching the young

Workshops run across the warehouse halls and spill into the village garden. Master craftspeople share practical skills that keep Rhön traditions alive — hands in wood, thread, iron, and soil.

  • Woodworking
  • Furniture restoration
  • Sewing & knitting
  • Basket weaving
  • Blacksmithing
  • Baking
  • Beekeeping
  • Gardening
